Description

The City of Fishers is hiring a full-time Assistant Aquatic Manager. This role assists the Aquatics Manager with day-to-day operations at the Fishers Community Center and Geist Waterfront Park. The Assistant Aquatics Manager will be responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions and shall create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member/citizen safety and engagement in accordance with City of Fishers policies and procedures.

This position will initially provide support to Geist Waterfront Park until the Fishers Community Center opens in October 2025.

Examples of Duties

• Provides a safe environment for participants, staff, and volunteers by strictly adhering to all City of Fishers policies and procedures.
• Assist the Aquatics Manager in the planning, managing, and oversite of the City of Fishers Aquatics programs at the Fishers Community Center and Geist Waterfront Park.
• Provide supervisory assistance with hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff.
• Develop and implement year-round lesson schedules for a diverse range of aquatic programs and ensure adequate staffing levels.
• Oversee and coordinate pool maintenance to ensure optimal water quality and equipment operations.
• When necessary perform all duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard and/or instructor.
• Ensure staff are trained to respond effectively to emergency incidents. Perform water rescues, administers proper first aid and/or CPR, if needed.
• Assist in creating and distributing marketing material advertising program offerings.
• Maintain accurate program records and assemble and analyze data as required to prepare reports.
• Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and staff.
• Act as Manager on Duty for some evening and weekend rotations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Equivalent to an associate’s degree in recreation, physical education, or related field from an accredited college or university preferred;
• Two (2) or more years of experience in aquatics facility management with a minimum of one (1) year of experience at a Head Lifeguard or Swim Instructor level;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required;
• Experience providing a high level of customer service to diverse internal and external customers;
• Has knowledge of pool and/or waterfront safety protocols and water rescue and resuscitation techniques;
• Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license with a driving record that allows the ability to be insured to drive a City vehicle.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Lifeguard Instructor Certification from qualified program (American Red Cross, Starguard, Ellis and Associates, etc.) which includes CPR/AED/First AID within 90 days of hire date; ability to obtain Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator Certification (CPO) within six (6) months of hire date.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
