Title: Head Lifeguard - Community Center
Status: Supplemental and Part-Time
Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour
Description:
Make a splash at the City of Fishers Community Center as a Head Lifeguard! In this lead worker role, you’ll help create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for residents and visitors enjoying the center. As Head Lifeguard, you’ll take charge of mentoring training, and coordinating lifeguard staff, while also responding to emergencies, maintaining cleanliness, and staying current on all required certifications. If you're 18 or older and available to work daytime (5am-4pm) weekday shifts and are ready to lead with confidence and care, we’d love to have you on board.
Examples of Duties:
- Train, monitor, and provide supervision to lifeguards during shift. Determine and implement appropriate Lifeguard rotation and zone coverage
- Supervise swimming activities and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies.
- Assist in implementing emergency action plans, perform water rescues, administer proper first aid and/or CPR, if needed. Document and report all accidents/incidents to supervisor immediately
- Participate in community activities/rental events at the Fishers Community Center pool.
- Display rescue behavior ready behavior at all times, refrain from socializing while guarding and follow proper radio protocol when communicating with staff.
- Exhibit professional behavior and provide excellent customer service to all patrons by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Solicit feedback from participants to continuously improve programs and services.
- Attend mandatory meetings and coach development in-services as scheduled.
- Perform duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to work daytime shifts (5am - 4pm) Monday -Friday.
- One (1) or more years of lifeguard experience with two (2) years of swim instructor experience preferred.
- Current Lifeguard Certification including First Aid, CPR/AED.
- Supervisory skills including training and supervising aquatic staff required and will be provided.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and staff.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
